Ibadan, Nigeria — At least ten people have tragically lost their lives in a fatal motor accident along the Ibadan–Lagos expressway on Tuesday.
The crash, which occurred near the Iwo Road axis of Ibadan, involved three commercial Nissan Micra vehicles and three articulated trucks, commonly known as trailers.
According to eyewitnesses, all the affected vehicles were heading out of Ibadan before the horrific collision occurred. Rescue operations were still ongoing at the time of this report, with emergency responders recovering mutilated bodies from the mangled wreckage.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rosary Alo, said FRSC officials were actively working at the scene. However, she noted that the exact number of casualties had not been officially confirmed, as officers were still compiling information from the scene.
The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety on one of Nigeria’s busiest expressways.
