Teachers Day: Reps pay tribute to teachers

The House of Representatives says through legislative interventions it would partner Federal Government to improve the lives of teachers.

The Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu during a special session of the house to pay tribute to Nigerian teachers, commended efforts of teachers in building future leaders..

He observed that bettering the lives of teachers would have multiplier effect on the nation’s education system.

“For all the teachers out there, we commend you for what you are doing. When I was growing up, I was told that your reward is in heaven. I’m praying that you start reaping your rewards from here on earth.

And through legislative interventions, we are going to partner with the executive to make sure that we better the lots of teachers, who are trying to make sure that we raise a generation that would help in nation building.”

A member from Yobe State, Khadija Bukar-Abba, saluted Nigerian teachers for their sacrifice, patience and endurance.

Similarly, Clement Jimboh from Akwa Ibom State, described teachers as strategic assets to any country and should be recognized for their impact on the society.
