Niger state, Nigeria _The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has embarked on a sensitization campaign in Daku village, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, to combat the persistent vandalism of electricity cables and equipment.
This move aims to foster collaboration among security agencies, local vigilante groups, and the community to protect vital electricity infrastructure and curb Nigeria’s recurrent power outages.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of community involvement in safeguarding the nation’s power infrastructure. Mr. Musa Shuaibu, General Manager of Transmission for the Abuja region, stressed that protecting national assets requires a joint effort between the government and local communities. Local leaders, including Chief Danladi Yahaya, Village Head of Daku, and security leaders, have pledged their support for the initiative, acknowledging vandalism as a significant security threat.
The TCN team has committed to sustaining the awareness drive until vandalism is effectively addressed, highlighting the need for community involvement in protecting Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
