Abuja, Nigeria — Nigerian barber Joshua Aiyeniro, popularly known as T-Jos, has made history after successfully completing the Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest premium haircuts marathon, clocking an impressive 154 hours of active haircuts.
This feat was confirmed in a press statement signed by Alhaji Gambo Jagindi, Head of Media & Publicity Planning Committee, and made available today in Abuja.
The seven-day challenge commenced on June 10, 2025, at 10 p.m. and concluded on June 17, 2025, at exactly 10 p.m., at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja. Although T-Jos was active for 168 hours, 14 hours were deducted for rest, in accordance with GWR rules which allow a one-hour break after every 12 hours of activity.
Alhaji Jagindi described the attempt as a symbol of resilience, determination, and creativity, noting that T-Jos’s passion for the barbering profession has not only earned him a place in global history but also served to inspire many young Nigerians.
Speaking at the event, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was present at the venue to mark the final hours of the challenge, commended T-Jos for his outstanding accomplishment. He emphasized that such achievements reflect the immense potential of Nigerian youth and the importance of skill development.
“This is more than a personal victory; it is a national inspiration,” Governor Aiyedatiwa remarked. “We are proud of T-Jos and confident that his success will spur others toward excellence.”
The record-breaking marathon attracted widespread attention both locally and internationally, bringing the spotlight to the art of barbering and its relevance as a viable profession.
As the nation celebrates this historic milestone, congratulations pour in for T-Jos, whose remarkable performance continues to motivate a new generation of skilled professionals across Nigeria.
