Gabriel Suswam, former Governor of Benue State, expressed skepticism about the ability of the government led by President Bola Tinubu to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
In an interview on Channels Television, Suswam argued that the Tinubu administration lacks the capability to improve the country’s economic situation, which he believes was worsened by the policies of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.
Suswam criticized the lack of meaningful change during Buhari’s tenure and suggested that the economic foundation laid by previous governments, particularly the PDP, was destroyed, leading to the current economic difficulties.
He described the economic state of the nation as dire and indicated that he believes the current leadership under Tinubu is not equipped to reverse this trend. Suswam pointed to policy decisions such as the removal of petrol subsidy, currency devaluation, and electricity tariff hikes as indicators that the government’s actions are exacerbating the hardships faced by everyday Nigerians.
