Super Eagles Well Positioned for AFCON 2025 Success —Yobo

Rabat, Morocco —  Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to navigate the group stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with ease.

Speaking after the draw held in Rabat, Morocco, Yobo highlighted the team’s strong track record in group stage matches.

“Nigeria traditionally doesn’t struggle at this stage of the tournament,” Yobo said. “We have a solid squad with players who are constantly improving and ready to showcase their talent.”

Drawn into Group C alongside former champions Tunisia, as well as Uganda and Tanzania, the Super Eagles face a competitive challenge. Nevertheless, Yobo remains optimistic.

“It’s never going to be a walk in the park, but this team has what it takes. We’ve got some of the best players in this generation, and they proved that at the last AFCON,” Yobo remarked.

The AFCON 2013-winning captain encouraged the team to build on their previous performance and aim for ultimate victory.

“I hope we start strong and carry that momentum all the way to the final. It’s time we reclaimed the trophy, and with our talented squad and a fantastic new coach, I believe we can achieve that,” Yobo added.

Meanwhile, other group matchups promise exciting encounters. In Group A, hosts Morocco will face Mali, Zambia, and Comoros. Group B features Egypt, South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe, while Group D comprises Senegal, DR Congo, Benin Republic, and Botswana.

Group E pits Algeria against Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan, while defending champions Cote d’Ivoire will battle Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique in Group F.

The stage is set for what promises to be a thrilling tournament.
