Nigeria’s stalwart, William Troost-Ekong, expresses collective desire among teammates for the retention of Jose Peseiro as the helm of the Super Eagles.
Uncertainty shrouds Peseiro’s future post the culmination of his contractual association with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), with the Algerian Football Federation expressing interest in his services.
Having steered the national team to a commendable second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the 63-year-old mentor is at the center of attention.
Troost-Ekong, in an exclusive interview with CNN World Sports’ Amanda Davies, discloses the players’ inclination towards a contract extension for their coach.
“Yes. I think the players are content with him. Reaching the final is noteworthy and provides a foundation for future success,” Troost-Ekong affirmed, shedding light on his attempt to inquire about Peseiro’s plans, which remains a mystery. He adds, “I think I’m just as much in the dark as you guys are, but I believe all the players would be pleased to have him back.”
