Speaker Abbas condemns the kidnap of workers, patients in Kaduna hospital

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has condemned Monday’s invasion of a hospital and abduction of workers and patients by gunmen in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The bandits reportedly invaded the Primary Healthcare Centre at Layin Dan Auta village in Kuyello Ward, Birnin-Gwari, abducting two nurses and patients yet to be ascertained.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi, the speaker charged security agencies to rescue those being held captive by the bandits.

“The activities of bandits have become too rampant, especially with the last attack on vulnerable targets like a hospital.

“Our security forces need to, as a matter of emergency, go after the abductors and rescue those abducted from the health facility. They must ensure that no Nigerian kidnapped in any part of the country remains in captivity,” the statement read in part.

Abbas also called for sustainable efforts to protect every part of Nigeria from the dangers of kidnapping, banditry and terrorism.
