Sokoto Govt vows to reconnect LG to national grid

Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has assured the people of Tangaza Local Government Area that his administration will soon reconnect the area with the national grid.

The governor stated this on Friday during a thank-you visit to the area as part of his statewide tour of the 23 local government areas.

According to him, reconnecting the areas that have been without electricity for long remains one of his top priorities.

He said, “We are currently reconnecting the eight local government areas of Sokoto East Senatorial Zone that have been without electricity for the past eight years.

“So far, we have reconnected Rabah, Wurno, Gwadabawa and Goronyo, while Isa, Sabon Birni, Illela and Gada work is going on smoothly and will be completed soon.”

The project, according to the governor, gulped N1.2bn.

The governor also visited Binji Local Government Area where he promised to look into the request of road projects in different parts of the local government area.

All Progressives Congress leader in the state, Aliyu Wamakko, extolled the achievements of the governor and charged him not to relent.

He, however, solicited more support for the present administration both at federal and state levels so that more developmental projects could be executed.

Other speakers at the thank-you visit to Tangaza and Binji included the former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Chiso Dattijo, State APC Chairman, Isah Achida, Chairman APC Elders Committee Aminu Tafida, as well as other prominent politicians in the local governments visited.
