Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Nigeria to represent President Tinubu at the 3rd Belt and Road Initiative Forum in Beijing, China, scheduled for October 16 – 18, 2023.
This was disclosed on his official X handle on Sunday.
The Vice President is expected to engage in discussions with international leaders at the Forum from more than 130 nations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America, with the theme, “High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity.”
Alhaji Shettima will make use of the forum’s platform to market Nigeria to investors, in order to secure more development projects.
Additionally, he is scheduled to have bilateral discussions with other international leaders to advance Nigeria’s trade and investment relationships in accordance with the President Tinubu administration’s vision for economic development.
This is in pursuance of the food security and diversification policy of the Tinubu administration, as he is expected to reveal changes being instituted in the Nigerian Agrifood sector and engage several stakeholders, partners, and investors in potential investment opportunities for Nigeria.
The Vice President is scheduled to attend a number of meetings after his return from the US.
