Abuja, Nigeria — Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South and former Senate Leader, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recent appointments that reflect inclusivity and regional balance in federal governance.
The commendation was issued in a statement personally signed by Senator Ndume and released to the press on Saturday. According to the senator, the appointment of about 12 individuals from Northern Nigeria into strategic federal parastatals and agencies marks a significant shift towards equitable representation.
Among the notable appointees are Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani (Zamfara) as Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC); Alhaji Hamza Ibrahim Baba (Kano) as Programme Manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP); Alhaji Abubakar Umar Jarengol (Adamawa) as Executive Director of Operations at NAIC; Barrister Sama’ila Audu (Katsina) as Executive Director of Administration at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF); Professor Musa Garba Mai Tafsiri (Kebbi) as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education; and Comrade Isa Aremu (Kwara) as Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS).
Senator Ndume described the appointments as evidence of President Tinubu’s responsiveness to public concerns, particularly those previously raised by Northern leaders over perceived regional disparities. He referenced Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution, which advocates fair distribution of public offices to reflect the country’s diversity.
“President Tinubu is someone who listens and learns,” Ndume stated. “His decision to correct earlier imbalances shows he values unity and national cohesion. It is a quality of true leadership.”
He acknowledged his past criticisms of the President’s appointments but maintained that such concerns were rooted in a commitment to justice and equity. “We spoke out not out of hostility but out of a duty to ensure national unity,” he remarked.
Ndume emphasized that while he remains committed to holding the Executive accountable, he harbors no personal animosity toward the President and reaffirmed his support for the Tinubu administration’s vision for Nigeria.
Congratulating the newly appointed officials, the Senator urged them to uphold integrity and justify the confidence reposed in them. He concluded by pledging continued legislative diligence and support for policies that reflect fairness and good governance.
