Abuja, Nigeria: The Nigerian Senate has pledged to fast-track the passage of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) Bill, aiming to strengthen forest security and combat criminal activities
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the Commander-General of the NFSS, Dr. Wole Osatimehin, and his team in Abuja .
Senator Jibrin emphasized the urgent need for the NFSS to rid Nigeria’s forests of banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and
related crimes. He commended Dr. Osatimehin and his management team for their successes, noting that the NFSS has established functional command and control offices in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The NFSS Bill has garnered support from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, with Ambassador John Metchie, Deputy Commander-General, Intelligence, NFSS, expressing gratitude for the pledge to expedite its passage.
