Security Agencies Identify Senator Sponsoring Protests – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced on Thursday that security agencies have identified a Senator who allegedly financed protests in the nation’s capital.

During a news briefing following a security council meeting in Abuja, Wike disclosed that the Senator provided food to the protesters but did not reveal the Senator’s identity. “A senator providing food for protesters. At the appropriate time, security agencies will invite the senator and find out how you will be sponsoring this kind of thing against the government of the day,” he stated.

Wike explained that security agencies received intelligence reports about individuals attempting to hijack the peaceful protest. Consequently, a court order restricted the protesters to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The Minister urged protesters to comply with the court’s directive to hold their demonstration within the stadium. He praised the protesters in Abuja for avoiding violence and maintaining peace.

Wike emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is implementing measures to improve the lives of Nigerians.

The protests resulted in significant property damage in some states, prompting the imposition of 24-hour curfews to prevent further destruction.
