SDP Chairman —In a recent statement, the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Gabam, has suggested that President Bola Tinubu may not survive until 2027.
Gabam pointed out a trend where previous presidents who faced challenges within the first two years of their tenure did not secure a second term in office. He highlighted the example of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who lost re-election due to mounting opposition that emerged in his second year as president.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Gabam emphasized that a president who encounters significant difficulties within the initial two years of a four-year term typically struggles to secure another term in office.
Additionally, Gabam expressed doubt about the capacity of the ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet to effectively execute the president’s objectives. He further added that Nigeria is currently grappling with unprecedented economic hardships.
The remarks from the SDP Chairman reflect concerns about the viability of President Tinubu’s leadership and his political future, based on historical patterns observed in previous administrations.
