Schneider Electric wins 2025 Africa CEO gender award

Abidjan, Ivory Coast Schneider Electric has been honored with the prestigious Gender Leader Award at the 2025 Africa CEO Forum, in recognition of its outstanding commitment to promoting gender diversity and inclusion across the African continent.

The award, presented during the forum held in Abidjan, reflects the company’s consistent efforts to embed equity and inclusivity within its corporate culture. It particularly acknowledges Schneider Electric’s leadership in ensuring women play a central role in strategic decision-making, with women currently heading its operations in French-speaking Africa and another poised to lead its English-speaking African operations beginning June 1.

Eligibility for the Gender Leader Award is determined by several core criteria: representation of women on boards of African subsidiaries, the proportion of women in executive roles, the reach and effectiveness of initiatives that foster female leadership, and the success of talent development and mentorship programs targeting women.

Schneider Electric has met these standards through initiatives aimed at nurturing female talent, embedding gender equity in strategic business practices, and supporting long-term growth through the Africa Talent Programme. These actions underscore the company’s broader vision to cultivate diverse, inclusive teams reflective of the communities they serve.

Commenting on the achievement, Devan Pillay, outgoing Cluster President for Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric, stated, “At Schneider Electric, we are building a workforce that truly reflects the world we serve. This award is a powerful recognition of our commitment to creating a future-ready, inclusive, and sustainable business environment.”

Echoing this sentiment, Tanya Ramlagan, Vice President of Human Resources for Anglophone Africa, said, “We are incredibly proud of this recognition. It reaffirms our dedication to empowering women and fostering inclusive leadership that will shape the future of energy and technology in Africa.”

Founded in 2012, the Africa CEO Forum has grown into a leading platform that brings together African business leaders, global investors, and policymakers. The Gender Leader Award serves as an extension of the forum’s mission, celebrating organizations that actively promote female leadership and champion social initiatives for gender inclusion across the continent.
