Bournemouth, England — Liverpool widened their lead in the Premier League title race, thanks to Mohamed Salah’s double in a commanding 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
Despite Bournemouth’s strong resistance, Arne Slot’s men secured a vital victory, extending their points tally to 56 from 23 matches. Salah’s brilliance proved decisive as he netted twice, taking his league tally to 21 goals this season.
The Egyptian forward opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a well-taken penalty. He sealed the win in the 75th minute, delivering a beautifully curled shot that left the Bournemouth defense stunned.
Bournemouth, sitting in seventh place, showed promise but struggled to capitalize on key moments. Antoine Semenyo hit the woodwork when the score was 0-0, and Marcus Tavernier did the same shortly before Salah’s second goal.
With this victory, Liverpool now enjoys a nine-point cushion at the top of the table. Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, both on 47 points, trail behind, while Manchester City sits fourth with 41 points.
Arsenal’s next fixture against Manchester City on Sunday could reshape the top-four dynamics. However, Salah’s relentless form continues to solidify Liverpool’s championship ambitions.
