Ronaldo Commits to Al-Nassr, Skips Club World Cup Interest

RiyadhAl-Nassr skipper Cristiano Ronaldo has officially ruled out any move away from the Saudi Pro League side this summer, opting instead to extend his stay with the club beyond the 2024/25 season.

The Portuguese superstar, who recently concluded his third campaign in the Middle East, has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Riyadh-based club for at least two more seasons, putting to rest growing speculation about a potential transfer.

Despite finishing as the league’s top scorer for a second consecutive season, Ronaldo’s team endured a challenging year, ending the campaign in third place and missing out on AFC Champions League qualification. Their final match — a narrow 3–2 loss to Al-Fateh — added further frustration to an already underwhelming season.

Following that defeat, Ronaldo sparked rumours of an imminent exit by posting a cryptic message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter): “This chapter is over.” The message fueled reports linking him to other clubs, most notably Saudi rivals Al-Hilal, who are set to face Real Madrid in the opening match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

However, fresh reports from French outlet FootMercato have confirmed that Al-Nassr has reached a new agreement with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Sources close to the negotiations reveal that Ronaldo has already signed a deal that will see him remain with the “Knights of Najd” through the 2026/27 season.

By choosing to stay, Ronaldo has also confirmed he will not feature in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup — a decision that reflects his long-term commitment to the Al-Nassr project and his desire to lead the club to future continental and domestic success.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus striker continues to defy the odds at age 40, maintaining elite form and showing no signs of slowing down as he embarks on the next phase of his storied career in Saudi Arabia.
