Robbers Invade Female Hostel at University of Ibadan

Ibadan, Nigeria  —  An armed robbery attack on the female hostel at the University of Ibadan has sparked concern over campus security.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Awolowo Hall, where robbers stormed the facility, dispossessing students of mobile phones, jewelry, clothing, and other valuables.

In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ms. Joke Akinpelu, the attack lasted for over an hour, with affected students reportedly subjected to distressing ordeals.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that students’ screams of terror eventually alerted security personnel, prompting an urgent response. While the robbers managed to escape with stolen items, university authorities confirmed that some suspects have been apprehended and handed over to law enforcement for further investigation.

The university administration has assured the student community that security measures are being reinforced to prevent a recurrence and safeguard campus residents.
