Hon. Mark Useni, the representative for Takum, Donag, and Ussa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has condemned the brutal murders of Chief Abdul Hamid of Chanchanji and his son, Yusuf Hamid, by unknown assailants.
Useni commended Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas for his swift action to prevent the escalation of violence following the killings, describing the incident as a shocking tragedy.
The former Chairman of Takum local government decried the murders as particularly heinous given that the Chanchanji area had recently begun to experience peace and residents had returned to farming.
“I received the news of the gruesome killing of Chief Abdul Hamid Y. Kumgbera and his son Yusuf Abdul Hamid with deep shock,” Useni said. “The Royal Father, murdered on his way from Takum to his domain in Chanchanji, was the third-class chief of the area.”
“This despicable act is condemnable, especially at a time when the area is enjoying peace, and farming and business activities are thriving. I urge our security services to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.”
Useni praised Governor Kefas for the immediate security measures taken to maintain peace in the region. He also reflected on his two-decade-long working relationship with the late Monarch, highlighting the Chief’s dedication to his people and commitment to peace and community development.
“I urge the people of Chanchanji and Takum Local Government to remain calm and law-abiding as the government works to secure the area,” Useni added.
