President Bola Tinubu will address the nation in a broadcast on Sunday, August 4, at 7:00 am. Television, radio, and other electronic media outlets are urged to connect to the network services of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) to air the broadcast.
The broadcast will be repeated on NTA and FRCN network services at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on the same day.
This announcement comes amid ongoing protests across the country, which have turned violent in several areas. States such as Kano, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Nasarawa have witnessed significant unrest, with incidents of looting, burning of vehicles, and destruction of warehouses and private stores by hoodlums.
Police reported that seven people have died during the protests but denied that security agents were responsible for any of the deaths. As the protests enter their third day, police have been seen dispersing crowds using tear gas, a move that has been condemned by civil society organizations.
