President Tinubu okays 5000 low-cost houses for Nigerians in housing scheme

The Federal Housing Authority, FHA, has been mandated by President Bola Tinubu to build 5,000 Housing Units in every state of the Federation for low income earners.

The newly appointed FHA Executive Director, Housing, Finance and Accounts, Dr. Matthias Byuan made this known, weekend, at the inauguration reception organised for him at the home of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume.

In a statement by the All Progressives Congress, APC, Benue State Publicity Secretary, Dan-Morgan Ihomun, the Executive Director assured that with the directive from Mr. President, FHA would deliver the unit of houses to Nigerians in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Tinubu-led administration.

He said “FHA has been given the mandate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to build 5,000 Housing Units in every state of the Federation for low income earners. And it will be delivered in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.”

He urged Nigerians to rally round the administration in its quest to better the lot of the citizenry saying despite the initial teething challenges Nigerians would be happier for voting President Tinubu into power.

Dr. Byuan who thanked the President for appointing him also lauded Sen. Akume’s leadership endowment and support, which he acknowledged as having helped to facilitate his appointment.

According to him, “Sen. Akume is a politician, a father, and a selfless leader who is approachable by people of various backgrounds. He is also modest, kind, and humane. I urge the people to keep praying and standing by him in his quest to bring more Benue sons and daughters into national spotlight.”

Earlier, Elder statesman and Chairman of Benue APC Elders Council, Simon Shango thanked the SGF for facilitating another appointment for a Benue son and called for prayers for him. He described Dr. Byuan as a true son and party man saying “he is a round peg in a round hole.”

Former Senatorial candidate, Lady Helen Atom, also lauded Sen. Dr. Akume for his devotion to Benue State, his constant efforts to empower people, and his determination that Byuan was deserving of the appointment and sued for prayers for him to succeed.

Also, the lawmaker representating Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Terseer Ugbor, who spoke on behalf of the National Assembly members thanked Sen. Akume for once again demonstrating leadership by facilitating the appointment of Dr. Byuan who he said “will impact positively on the housing sector in Nigeria and also make Benue proud.”

In a vote of thanks, Benue State Chairman of APC, Comrade Austin Agada, urged politicians to follow the footsteps of Dr. Byuan, “who ran for the seat of governor of Benue State but was denied the party’s ticket.”

He complimented him “for being a unique politician who, in spite of his undeniable popularity and being one of the front-runners with the highest expenditure in the party’s last governorship primaries, declined to file a legal challenge on the outcome when he was denied the ticket.”

Agada expressed gratitude to Sen. Akume “for identifying a committed member who is capable of positively enhancing the lives of Benue people and fulfilling the mandate given him by the President.”

He charged members of the party to remain steadfast in their prayers and support for Sen. Akume and Dr. Byuan.

Present at the event were members of the State Working Committee of the party, members of the National Assembly, captains of industry, party supporters, friends, and many others.
