Lagos, Nigeria — Controversial street artist Portable has accused Afrobeat superstar Davido of offering misleading advice and living a “fake life,” stirring fresh controversy in the Nigerian music scene.
In a recent video, Portable claimed that during a meeting in Atlanta, Davido advised him against signing a deal with Sony Music, instead recommending Empire Records, the label housing artists like Asaké.
“You gave me bad advice in Atlanta,” Portable alleged. “You told me not to sign with Sony but to join Empire. Did you even pay for my flight?”
Portable further accused Davido of hypocrisy, stating that he later discovered Davido himself was signed to Sony Music and benefitting significantly from the arrangement.
The street singer also criticized Davido for exaggerating the value of his assets, particularly a wristwatch.
“You’ll buy a chain for $30,000 and claim it’s worth $100 million,” Portable said. “Fake love, fake life. Your fake ways will harm you. Big Wizzy, God bless you.”
The video, now trending on social media, has sparked mixed reactions, with fans debating Portable’s claims and Davido’s silence on the matter.
This latest drama adds to Portable’s reputation for making bold, controversial statements about fellow artists in the industry.
