Police nab notorious bandit, rescue three kidnapped victims in Kaduna

 

The Police command of Kaduna State says its personnel have arrested a notorious bandit, Muhammad Bello, an accomplice to Dogo Haliru.

This was after the rescue of three kidnapped victims who were abducted along the Kindandan-Dogon Dawa Road, Birnin Gwari local government.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Kaduna Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, he stated that the state Commissioner of Police has lauded the officers for a job well done, just as he ordered for intensified confidence building patrols in the area.

“On May 21, 2024, at about 14:50 hrs, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kidandan Division received a distress call reporting that unknown armed bandits had blocked the Kidandan-Dogon Dawa Road and kidnapped an unspecified number of individuals.

“In response, the DPO swiftly mobilised personnel from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), who were attached to Operation Whirl Punch in Galadimawa, and proceeded to the scene in an Armored Personnel Vehicle (APV).

“Upon arrival, the police team engaged the bandits in a serious gun battle,” he said.

According to the statement, “although, the bandits managed to deflate two tires of the APV, the police team successfully rescued three kidnapped individuals: Ashiru Abubakar, male, 35, from Batagarawa local government area, Katsina State, Ahmed Ibrahim, male, from Dutsen Ma, Katsina State and Shehu Kabiru, male, 30, from Kidandan.

“In the same vein, on May 21, 2024, at about 1900 hours, the Operation Yaki operatives, acting on technical intelligence provided by the Technical Intelligence Unit Force Headquarters, Abuja, successfully arrested one Muhammadu Bello, a 30-year-old resident of Yan Bokolo area, Malalin Gabas, Igabi local government area, Kaduna state.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect is an accomplice to Dogo Haliru, a notorious kidnapper known for terrorising Zamfara, Katsina, and the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

“While the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Audu Dabigi, applauds the officers for their gallantry and good use of intelligence, he orders for intensified confidence building patrols to ensure ongoing safety and security.”
