Police Grill Pastor Adefarasin Over Alleged Gun Incident

Lagos, NigeriaThe Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the ongoing interrogation of Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Lead Pastor of House on the Rock Church, over allegations of brandishing a firearm-like object at a popular TikToker, known as Car Spotter.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated that the pastor voluntarily reported to the state headquarters in Ikeja, where detectives began questioning him regarding the incident.

“No one is above the law,” Hundeyin emphasized. “Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in and is currently being interrogated over a viral video in which he appeared to confront another road user with a metallic object while driving an unregistered vehicle.”

According to the police spokesperson, investigations have commenced and findings will be made public in due course.

The controversy stems from a video that surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) in early June 2025. It allegedly showed Pastor Adefarasin lowering the window of his black Range Rover—reportedly without license plates—while holding what appeared to be a firearm and expressing displeasure at being filmed in traffic.

The TikToker involved, known for capturing luxury cars around Lagos, quickly apologized in the video as the vehicle drove off. The clip, however, went viral, drawing widespread criticism and sparking debate online.

In response, Pastor Adefarasin publicly denied the allegations both on social media and during a Sunday sermon. “That was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” he asserted, describing the claims as “mischief” and a “misunderstanding.”

He further stated that he does not possess a firearm, nor does he hold a license to carry one, suggesting the backlash was part of a wider campaign of digital harassment by “click baiters” and “forces of darkness.”

The Lagos State Police has assured the public of a transparent investigation as the case unfolds.
