Nigeria: The Commissioners of Police in Anambra and Enugu states, Ikioye Orutugu and Mamman, respectively, have joined forces to devise operational strategies aimed at enhancing security in the two neighboring states.
This collaborative effort is in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s enhanced policing guidelines, which prioritize proactive policing and intelligence sharing.
The commissioners identified the infiltration of criminals between the two states as a major security challenge, requiring urgent intervention to address violent crimes and subversive activities. To combat this, they pledged to share intelligence, pool operational resources, and collaborate to decisively combat all forms of crime and criminality in both states.
This joint effort comes as Anambra and Enugu states grapple with escalating insecurity, which has profoundly affected their socio-economic landscapes. The prevalence of kidnapping, armed robbery, and communal conflicts has threatened lives, hindered development, and instilled fear among residents. By working together, the police commands aim to restore peace and stability to the region, underscoring the importance of joint efforts and intelligence sharing in addressing security challenges.
