Police Arrest Man for Attempted Suicide in Adamawa

Police in Adamawa State have apprehended a 30-year-old man, Abdullahi Muhammed, after he attempted to take his own life by climbing a 33kv high-tension power line along the Yola-Jalingo highway.

SP Suleiman Yahaya, who confirmed the arrest, stated that Muhammed, a native of Taraba State, would undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Specialist Hospital to determine his mental health status.

Sources indicate that Muhammed did not provide any clear reason for his suicide attempt. Upon receiving the report, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police swiftly dispatched officers from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Police Headquarters to the scene.

Fortunately, the suspect was rescued and is currently in protective custody. He is under investigation and is expected to face charges in court for the attempted suicide.

The Adamawa State Police Command remains dedicated to safeguarding lives and preventing incidents of self-harm in the community.
