The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 64 individuals and the recovery of 693 bags of fertilizer following a violent protest in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer Sadiq Aliyu informed LEADERSHIP that although no lives were lost during the unrest, a government-owned fertilizer warehouse was vandalized.
Aliyu stated that the police had successfully recovered the stolen fertilizer and apprehended the suspects involved in the vandalism.
The police spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the details surrounding the incident.
Since the acting governor, Faruq Lawal, imposed a curfew and banned protests, calm has been restored to the state. Security personnel have been strategically positioned across Katsina to enforce the curfew.
