Nigeria: The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned Biola Odutayo in connection with the death of Adetunji Opayele, co-founder of Bumpa, who was killed in a road accident on March 4, 2025, along Ozumba Mbadiwe road, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the police, Odutayo was arraigned on March 12, 2025, and charged with reckless and careless driving, which resulted in Opayele’s death.
Opayele, a 32-year-old software engineer, was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by Odutayo. The incident has sparked widespread public concern, with a petition demanding justice for Opayele and urging authorities to take immediate action.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the police acknowledge public concerns and extend their deepest sympathies to Opayele’s family and friends. The court granted Odutayo bail and adjourned the case until April 16, 2025. The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to transparency, fairness, and justice.
