The police arraigned a 27-year-old man, Yusuf Ali, over alleged stealing of a motorcycle and breach of peace on Thursday.
The defendant, of no fixed address, was arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on Sept.10 at about 10:00 a.m at Irona Area in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant and others at large stole Bajaj motorcycle colour red valued at N900,000 belonging to one Olawhale Empire Multibiz Venture.
Oriyomi said that the defendant and others at large conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 302 and 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was, however, adjourned till Oct.7 for hearing.
