The police in Ogun State have successfully apprehended 33-year-old Olayemi Olawale Shedrack, a wanted criminal suspected of being involved in armed robbery and rape in Ijagun, Odogbolu local government area.
Shedrack was sought in connection to an incident at the Tai University of Education in Ijagun, where female students were reportedly subjected to robbery and sexual assault in July. The victims had their laptops, cash, and other personal belongings taken during the attack.
Confirming the arrest of Shedrack, Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola disclosed that Shedrack had been a fugitive on the police’s wanted list. The suspect was taken into custody based on intelligence gathered, as he attempted to blend in with the crowd.
Shedrack is believed to have played a significant role in the armed robbery and sexual assault incident at the university involving female students.
Following his arrest, Shedrack will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and potential prosecution.
In response to the development, Commissioner of Police Alamutu Abiodun has called on the Ijagun community to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information that could aid in the capture of any other individuals involved in the criminal activities.
