The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, due to his failure to settle a debt accumulated from the purchase of a G-Wagon from a state auto dealer.
According to sources, Portable allegedly only paid N13 million of the N27 million car transaction, neglecting the remaining N14 million owed to the dealer.
Repeated attempts by the car dealer to collect the outstanding balance were reportedly met with claims from Portable that the vehicle was faulty. Subsequently, after futile efforts to secure payment, the car dealer reported the matter to the police, leading to Portable’s arrest.
Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, affirmed Portable’s detainment, stating, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
Portable rose to prominence in 2021 after gaining internet fame for featuring Olamide in one of his popular songs.
