Anambra state, Nigeria: The Anambra State Police Command has appealed for calm following the tragic shooting of a young woman, Chiamaka Okeke, by an unidentified security operative at Ibeto Junction, Nnewi, on Monday, April 15
The incident sparked widespread outrage among residents, who were concerned about the alleged reckless actions of the officer involved.
According to the police, the command is working closely with the relevant security agency to identify and apprehend the suspect. “The Command is already in contact with the security agency concerned, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” said the police statement issued by Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has urged residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to run its course. He emphasized the command’s commitment to transparency and accountability, promising to provide updates as the investigation progresses
