The Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) has taken decisive action by sealing off Sassauka Clinic and Diagnosis Centre located in Rimin Kebe. The Director of PHIMA, Professor Salisu Ibrahim, affirmed that the closure was enforced due to multiple infractions detected at the facility.
Professor Ibrahim clarified that discrepancies were found in the clinic’s registration details, as the name recorded in PHIMA’s registry differed from its current designation. While registered as Sassauka Clinic and Diagnosis, the clinic operated under the name Sassauka Hospital without proper documentation.
Moreover, the clinic expanded its services from its initial six-bed capacity to accommodate forty beds without prior notification to PHIMA, contravening regulatory protocols. Notably, the law mandates that a forty-bed clinic must have a minimum of three medical doctors, yet Sassauka Clinic continued to operate with only one doctor, who was frequently absent.
Citing these violations and other concerns, Professor Ibrahim disclosed that the clinic was swiftly shut down, with the owner summoned to PHIMA for further clarification and guidance on compliance with regulatory standards. He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering commitment to elevating the healthcare sector to international benchmarks, emphasizing the importance of adhering to established protocols to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services in Kano State.
