Philanthropist and business mogul Chief Kefas Ropshik has distributed over 300 bags of rice and other food items to the society’s vulnerable and physically challenged.
This was in addition to the random selection of 25 widows with each getting the sum of N200,000 as startup funds for their businesses.
Speaking during the distribution at Mees Palace Resort Rayfield Jos, the chief executive officer of Kefiano Autos said, the reason many remain backward is that, past leaders have impoverished them for political gains, offering handouts instead of empowerment.
“For me, the legacy I want to leave is to be remembered by the lives I have impacted. That’s my concern”.
Chief Ropshik also stated that his philanthropic gestures were not politically motivated, noting that he has been doing that for over 15 years, long before he considered joining politics.
“I ventured into politics because I felt strongly that governance should be different. Plateau State has always had leaders from public sector backgrounds, and their focus has been on administration rather than innovative governance.
“Governance should be business-driven, transforming people’s lives and creating economic opportunities.
“Plateau State is one of the richest states in Nigeria, blessed with mineral resources, agricultural potential, and brilliant minds. Yet, our resources remain underutilized. If properly harnessed, the state should be a commercial hub.”

A similar gesture was extended to the people of Kanam, Kanke, Pankshin and Shendam LGAs of the state.
He commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for some of his private sector-driven programmes.
