The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State, has rejected the suspension of its 2023 governorship candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, by his ward. The party labeled the suspension as malicious and a violation of the party’s constitution. This was stated in a communiqué issued on September 13, 2024, and signed by PDP council leaders, including Chairman Hon. Olorunmaiye Olabode, Secretary Comrade Owonibi Kayode, and Public Relations Officer Pastor Stanley Ajileye.
The dismissal follows an announcement by the Executive Committee of PDP in Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1, which had earlier suspended Melaye over alleged anti-party activities. In response, PDP leaders from Ijumu described the suspension letter as forged and orchestrated by external enemies aiming to destabilize the party. They urged party members to disregard the suspension and reaffirmed Senator Melaye’s leadership in the state.
