The wedding of Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has generated significant buzz on social media following the ceremony held on Saturday in Abia State.
Rudeboy shared a picture of himself and his new wife, Ivy Ifeoma Idoko, on his X (formerly Twitter) account, prompting an outpouring of congratulations from fans and colleagues.
One fan, a dental consultant identified as @Christopher, commented, “Congratulations, my brother.” Another supporter, JE RE MY, wished the couple well, stating, “Forever is the deal.” Another tweet read, “So happy for Rudeboy and his partner. Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness.”
However, the wedding also drew criticism from some Nigerians who accused the music star of disrespecting his in-law during the ceremony. Ossai Success, a former aide to the ex-Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, criticized Rudeboy for not removing his cap during prayers.
Ossai remarked, “This is a total disrespect for the elder. An elder was praying for Rudeboy during his traditional marriage, and he kept his cap on. Out of respect for the elder and his prayer, he should have removed his cap. The man is not just an elder but also his in-law. Young guys nowadays lack respect because of the money in their possession. This is disrespectful to the elder, his prayer, and also to culture.”
