OYSIEC Commences Vote Counting and Results Announcement for Oyo LG Polls

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has initiated the process of counting votes and announcing election outcomes across various regions of the state.

According to reports, the commission conducted local government elections across all 33 local government areas of the state on Saturday.

Journalists on the ground witnessed the tallying and declaration of results in several polling units within Ibadan, the state capital, encompassing Ido, Ibadan North, Ibadan North East, Ibadan South East, Ibadan South West, and Ibadan North West local government areas.

With some polling units having concluded their electoral proceedings, commission officials have commenced the crucial task of tabulating and announcing the results.

Notably, election outcomes have been officially declared in several polling units within Ibadan North local government area, as well as in other local government areas across the state.

During a visit to Ward 9 in Ibadan North local government, our correspondent observed the formal announcement of election results in various polling units.

For instance, in Ward 9, polling unit 6 of Ibadan North local government, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 40 votes in the chairmanship election, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 10 votes. Three ballot papers were invalidated. Similarly, in the councillorship race, PDP obtained 40 votes, while APC received 11 votes, with two ballots voided.

In Unit 5 of Ward 9, Ibadan North local government, PDP amassed 117 votes in the chairmanship contest, compared to APC’s 9 votes. Four ballots were deemed invalid. In the councillorship election, PDP garnered 110 votes, while APC received 15 votes, with one ballot invalidated.
