The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has criticized the chairman of the state’s chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Wale Lasisi, for his comments about Yinka Ayefele, a prominent musician and broadcaster.
Lasisi had criticized Ayefele for airing a case on his radio program where a woman had a sanitary pad left in her stomach after a caesarian section surgery, resulting in serious health issues for two years.
Lasisi insisted that the case should have been reported to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and demanded a public apology. In response, the NUJ accused Lasisi of displaying arrogance and called his statement reckless and misguided.
