Outgoing Head of Civil Service Credits Success to Buhari and Tinubu

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), has attributed her achievements in office to the support she received from the administrations of President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking at a Town Hall meeting organized by the Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC) in her honor, Yemi-Esan expressed deep gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve the nation in her capacity. She described the event as a unique and unprecedented gesture, noting that she had never witnessed such a tribute from union officials for any of her predecessors.

“I thank God for the opportunity to serve my country. Becoming the Head of Service was beyond my dreams, and I owe it all to the hand of God. I also want to thank former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu for making my work easier,” she said.

Yemi-Esan also praised the Permanent Secretaries who worked with her, acknowledging their dedication and hard work, which she said were crucial to her success.

In her address to the civil servants, Yemi-Esan urged them to continue their diligent service to the nation despite the challenges they face, including high living costs and other pressures. “I do not want the standards we have set to drop, even in the face of these challenges,” she advised.

She also offered guidance to the incoming HOCSF, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, emphasizing the importance of maintaining open communication with union members and staff to ensure a harmonious working environment.

JUNC President, Mr. Sylvester Abah, expressed his appreciation for Yemi-Esan’s tenure, describing her appointment as a timely and wise decision by the Federal Government. He highlighted her contributions, particularly through the adoption of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25) and other initiatives that have left a lasting impact on the service.

Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, the incoming Head of Service, praised the solid foundation laid by Yemi-Esan, which she believes will ease her transition into the role. She commended Yemi-Esan for upholding the core values of Accountability, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Loyalty, and Efficiency (AMPLE), which are essential for sustaining reforms within the civil service. Walson-Jack also noted Yemi-Esan’s loyalty to both presidents she served under and her commitment to the principles of effective service delivery.
