Osun Sets Up Committee to Resolve Ifon-Ilobu-Erin Disputes

Osogbo, Osun State   In a bid to address the recurring land disputes among the communities of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun, Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke has inaugurated a 100-member Boundary Crisis Resolution Committee.

The committee includes 25 representatives each from Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun, alongside 25 members representing the state government. The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Adetunji Olanipekun Larooye, will chair the committee, while Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe, a retired judge and Chairman of the Osun State Boundary Commission, will serve as Co-Chairman.

Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, in a statement issued in Osogbo, disclosed that Governor Adeleke established the committee to find a lasting solution to the persistent land disputes among the three communities.

The committee also includes four prominent traditional rulers:

– Oba Abioye Oyebode, The Olokuku of Okuku

– Oba Adams Iyiola Bamidele Yusuf, The Oloba of Oba Oke

– Oba Adekeye Oyedare, The Oloyan of Oyan

– Oba Akeem Ogungbamgbe, The Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesha

Security agencies and legal experts are also part of the panel, including:

– Mohammed, Osun State Commissioner of Police

– Mr. Ayoola Kehinde, Director of DSS

– Brigadier General Aliu Mohammed, E.C.C Commander, Ede

– Mr. Sotiyobo Igbalawola, NSCDC Commander

– Mr. Anthony Chikezie, Immigration Service Commander

– Dr. Adekunle Omoyele, Amotekun Corps Commander

– Barrister Dare Ojo, Special Adviser on Security

Additionally, leaders of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) from Osogbo, Ikirun, Ile Ife, and Ilesa branches will contribute their expertise. Mr. Soladoye Abioye, the Osun State Surveyor General, is also part of the committee.

Governor Adeleke urged members to bring their diverse experiences to bear in resolving the complex boundary issues and ensuring peace among the affected communities.
