Osun NDLEA apprehends former prisoner for possession of illegal substances

The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Osun State has detained a 65-year-old ex-convict for being in possession of illicit drugs.

This information was disclosed in a press release by the NDLEA Osun State Command spokesperson, Odigie Charles, on Monday in Osogbo. The NDLEA in Osun disclosed that the individual, Dauda Lamide, was apprehended during a patrol in Iwo with dried plant material suspected to be Cannabis Sativa on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

The illegal substance was concealed inside two containers used for engine oil. The press release also indicated that Lamido had previously been sentenced to three years in prison for the same offense in 2019. As stated in the release, “During a motorized patrol in Iwo on Saturday, 23rd March, 2024, operatives of the Command intercepted Dauda Lamidi, aged 65, with dried plant material suspected to be Cannabis Sativa concealed inside two engine oil containers, weighing 1.550 kg.

Dauda, who is a former convict, was previously convicted for the same offense in 2019 and sentenced to three years.”
