Istanbul, Turkey — Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen delivered a match-winning performance, netting twice to secure Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in a gripping Turkish Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night.
Turkey international Baris Yilmaz set up Osimhen for the opener just 10 minutes into the encounter, giving Galatasaray an early advantage in the fiercely contested derby.
Osimhen received a yellow card in the 85th minute for a foul before being substituted a minute later, making way for Spain international Álvaro Morata.
The 26-year-old striker has now amassed an impressive 27 goals and five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season for the Yellow and Reds.
Meanwhile, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Osimhen’s compatriot, remained an unused substitute for Fenerbahçe throughout the game.
With this victory, Galatasaray advances to the semifinals, keeping their hopes of lifting the Turkish Cup alive.
