Istanbul, Turkey — Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive run by scoring in Galatasaray’s 3-1 home victory against Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.
Davinson Sanchez opened the scoring in the 20th minute, heading in a corner from Gabriel Sara. Osimhen doubled the lead in the 65th minute with a firm header, showcasing his aerial prowess.
Rizespor pulled one back through Dal Varesanovic in the 73rd minute, briefly stirring hopes of a comeback. However, Mauro Icardi sealed the win with a late goal in stoppage time.
This victory keeps Galatasaray unbeaten in four league matches, maintaining their top spot on the table with 12 points.
For Rizespor, who fielded Nigerian midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin, the team remains anchored in 16th place with just one point from three games.
Osimhen’s scoring form is a boost for Nigeria as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The 2023 African Player of the Year has scored in his last two Super Lig matches and previously netted goals in qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
