Orie Promotes Sound Governance in 2027 Campaign

Owerri, Nigeria – former Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Chief Charles Orie, has reiterated his commitment to good governance and inclusive leadership as conversations around the 2027 governorship race in Imo State begin to intensify.

This affirmation was made during an interactive session in Owerri with the Imo State Progressives for Change (ISPC) – Diaspora, a global coalition comprising Imo indigenes across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Speaking during the engagement, Orie described the ISPC Diaspora as a visionary platform working to promote equitable and effective leadership beyond partisan interests. “This is not just about politics—it’s about charting a prosperous and sustainable future for Imo State. The ISPC Diaspora has a clear mandate: to institutionalize good governance as the standard for leadership in our state,” he said.

Orie stressed the importance of integrating global insights from the diaspora community to reposition Imo for transformative growth. He pledged to continue engaging with reform-minded stakeholders to achieve a shared vision for the state.

Reflecting on his tenure at ISOPADEC, Orie highlighted his accomplishments in grassroots development, particularly in healthcare. He oversaw the construction of three modern hospitals across oil-producing local governments: the Umuokanne General Hospital in Ohaji-Egbema, the 42-bed Senator Arthur Nzeribe Memorial General Hospital in Oguta, and the 20-bed Michael Uzodimma Memorial General Hospital in Omuma, Oru East LGA. These projects, he noted, were built in partnership with the state government and faith-based organizations to ensure effective staffing and management.

Additional initiatives under his leadership included the rehabilitation of 20 primary health centers, expanded medical outreach to underserved communities, the construction of a concrete bridge in Nzeribe’s village in Oguta, and the establishment of a new Skill Acquisition Center in Awommamma, Oru East, aimed at youth empowerment.

“My leadership at ISOPADEC was centered on development, inclusion, and impact. If elected governor in 2027, I intend to replicate and expand this model across the entire state,” Orie declared.

In his remarks, Dr. Onuegbu, the Director General of ISPC Diaspora, commended Orie’s leadership style, describing him as accessible, visionary, and committed to inclusive governance. He praised Orie’s dedication to human capital development through small business funding, scholarships, and empowerment programs targeting youths and oil-producing communities.

Dr. Onuegbu reiterated ISPC’s core principles, which include equity, justice, rule of law, transparency, and strategic investment in healthcare, infrastructure, and education. “Chief Orie’s vision resonates with the ISPC’s mission. His focus on transparency, empowerment, and inclusive governance is what Imo State needs for sustainable development,” he said.

The ISPC reaffirmed its support for leaders who exemplify integrity, accountability, and a commitment to public service, optimism that Orie’s track record positions him as a strong contender for the 2027 governorship election.
