The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Thursday unveiled a golden statue dedicated to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at a ceremony held at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
The event also marked the inauguration of a 2.7-kilometer road, named “Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way,” and the unveiling of a grand pavilion monument, both contributions from the Ooni in honor of the First Lady Remi Tinubu
Speaking at the event, the Ooni praised Senator Tinubu for her leadership in education, women’s empowerment, and national unity, describing her as a model of strength and virtue. “This statue stands as a testament to her noble qualities as a teacher, mother, and wife, right at the heart of Obafemi Awolowo University,” he said.
Oba Ogunwusi added that the newly inaugurated pavilion, the largest in the university’s history, is a symbol of Senator Tinubu’s commitment to fostering environments that promote learning and empowerment.
Senator Tinubu, a distinguished alumna of OAU, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education, expressed her gratitude and announced a pledge of N1 billion to support the university’s horticultural landscaping project in Obafemi Awolowo University.
