One killed, one injured in Lagos truck-motorcycle collision.

In a tragic incident in the Apapa area of Lagos, a collision between a Dangote truck and a commercial motorcycle resulted in the death of the motorcyclist and left a female passenger injured. The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene after the accident.

According to the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the fatal accident occurred on Wednesday at Area B, near Point Road, heading towards Airways in Apapa. LASTMA officials responded promptly, rescuing the injured passenger and transporting her to Apapa General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

After the collision, both the truck driver and his assistant abandoned the truck and fled the scene. Collaborating with the Area B Police Station, LASTMA officers secured and removed the truck, handing it over to the police for further investigation.

Bakare-Oki emphasized the importance of truck drivers obeying speed limits, maintaining their vehicles regularly, and avoiding reckless driving. He also called on commercial motorcyclists to refrain from using prohibited routes such as highways and bridges across the state. Strict adherence to traffic regulations by all road users was stressed as crucial in preventing similar tragedies in the future.
