One Dead, Two Injured in Shooting at Trump Rally

A gunman and an audience member have died in a suspected assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The incident took place on Saturday evening. According to the Secret Service, the shooter fired “multiple shots” from an “elevated position outside of the rally venue.” The gunman was killed, and two others sustained critical injuries.

Trump reported that a bullet had grazed the upper portion of his ear as he ducked below the podium when the gunfire began. “I knew immediately that something was wrong; I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” Trump shared on social media.

The attack occurred while Trump was delivering his speech. He quickly dropped to the floor, clutching his ear as shots rang out and the crowd erupted in screams. Secret Service agents surrounded Trump, shielding him as armed security personnel rushed onto the stage.

Despite the chaos, Trump raised his fist and shouted “fight” before being whisked away into a vehicle. The incident is being investigated as an attempted assassination. Trump’s campaign confirmed that he is “fine” following the ordeal.

President Joe Biden condemned the shooting, while former President Barack Obama expressed his condolences and called for civility and respect in politics.
