The Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faced internal conflict on Monday regarding the formation of the campaign council for the upcoming off-cycle gubernatorial election.
The party criticized its gubernatorial candidate, Agboola Ajayi, for not involving the party in selecting council members. Ajayi’s spokesperson announced the appointments of Eddy Olafeso as Chairman, Clement Faboyede as Director General, John Ola-Mafo as Director General (Special Duties), and Deji Aseniserare as Secretary of the Ajayi Campaign Council.
The party’s publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei, condemned Ajayi’s actions as embarrassing and a violation of the party’s constitution.
Peretei emphasized that individual announcements of appointments are not permitted by the party’s constitution, and stated that appropriate procedures would be followed for appointing the Local Campaign Council in the future.
