Social media influencer and critic, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman, has been remanded in police custody by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
He was charged with five counts related to cyberstalking by the Nigeria Police Force. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, requested bail, but the prosecution team asked for more time to respond.
The bail hearing was adjourned to May 29 by Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon. The prosecution sought to have Verydarkman remanded in prison custody, but his lawyers requested that he be kept in police custody.
The court granted this request, and he was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre. Verydarkman had previously been remanded in March 2024 for a similar cyberbullying offense. The 27-year-old, known for his controversial content, has been facing legal issues since January of this year.
