Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have been urged to consistently develop practical solutions to address the ongoing food insecurity in the country.

During a Fellowship induction and public lecture in Abuja, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) President Margaret Oguntala emphasized the need for sustainable rural development in Nigeria, highlighting the role of agricultural engineers. Represented by the immediate past Vice President Veliari Agberagba, Oguntala expressed concern over rising food prices and reiterated the NSE’s readiness to collaborate with affiliates to revitalize the agricultural sector and improve food security.

Professor Joshua Olaoye, National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE), called on the new inductees to intensify their efforts to transform the agricultural sector. He also urged the federal government to consistently prioritize security, underscoring its importance in addressing food insecurity.

Among the new inductees were Professor Zinash Osunde, Ayuba Balami, and Ezeh Chikodili, who committed to upholding professional ethics for the nation’s advancement.

The NIAE, a division of the NSE, is dedicated to transforming agricultural practices, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable development. Fourteen new members from academia, industry, government, and the private sector were inducted into the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers.
